Description
The Presence of Absence is the third movement from Hiraedd. While Hiraedd is a work for full orchestra, this movement features just the strings and so is presented here as a work for string orchestra. As a whole, Hiraedd deals with a feeling of loss and desire, a lack of belonging. The Presence of Absence highlights the pervasive impact of absence, of what is missing, rather than just its void.
This work is simple in scoring, but complex in emotion. It is ideal for a string orchestra who can convey the greatest of emotions, or for any who are looking to develop these skills. The viola section feature heavily.
